Christian Dolan
After being grown in a vat by an imperial alien race, Christian Dolan decided that, rather than conquer and colonize the Earth, he would instead become a freelance sound mixer for film and television in sunny Portland, Oregon.
Though he misses the untold power of commanding an intergalactic armada, he finds a satisfying sense of accomplishment in providing clean audio tracks for film, television and corporate projects.
He also sometimes drinks.

Mixer Chris Durfy’s production sound blog.
Okay, buckaroos, new blog time. Today’s site belongs to Chris Durfy, an Atlanta, Georgia-based production sound mixer. A recent post details his Top 10 Issues With Using a Sound Devices 788T/CL-8 In a Reality Rig:
While none of the above issues are deal breakers, it is good to be aware of the issues. The 788t/CL-8 is a powerful combination and knowing it’s limitations can make a strong rig even stronger.
(Odd; I find that the number one complaint about that particular setup is that it doesn’t do windows…).
Please to enjoy.

Steve Douglas reviews the Gitzo GB1540 Boom Pole:
I’m sure that there are still some who attach their microphones to broom handles with duct tape and do their best to keep that heavy pole out of the camcorder’s frame. However, for those who are seeking a low cost and absolutely featherweight boom pole, I believe you will be most happy with Gitzo’s GB1540 and G11510N Shockmount.

Item #8 on the Boom Op’s list: Know where to stand so lighting can put the 5K there.
Starting out in today’s market presents some interesting challenges, and I don’t just mean “how does one tweet and mix simultaneously.”
(For the curious, the answer to the above is “make the utility do it”.)

Is this disaster how some of your groups turn out! Great for comedic relief, but generally people want to see traditional smiling faces.
